Congress Information 

Bank, Cash Machines and Post Offices
A cash machine is located in front of the venue, near door E10, for CHF and EUR cash withdrawal, as well as a change machine (various currencies). Post Office & Banks are located at the airport(arrival level).

Business Centre
There is a Business Centre located on the ground floor of Palexpo, through the red doors to the right of the entrance to the Congress centre.

Certificate of Attendance
Participating delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance in their Congress Bag.

Climate and Dress Code
The climate in Geneva is temperate and in June it is usually mild and sunny but you should prepare for rain and chilly evenings. The daytime temperature ranges from 18°C to 28°C. The dress code will be informal throughout the Congress.

Cloakroom
There is a supervised cloakroom located in the foyer outside rooms A, B & C.

CME Credits
We are pleased to inform you that EAACI will offer EAACI/EACCME Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for the EAACI Congress 2012. The aim of the CME system is to assure a high level of theoretical and clinical competences through medical specialists’ working life. The EAACI CME Accreditation Committee guarantees that the CME programmes are of a high scientific and educational standard in agreement with the European and American CME systems.

The EAACI CME Committee has applied to the European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME) for European credits recognition. EACCME Credits will be available to US Doctors attending the EAACI Congress 2012, due to a reciprocal agreement signed by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). Each medical specialist should claim the recognition of the EAACI/EACCME Credits to his/her own CME National Authority.

Congress delegates can earn up to 21 credits from the conference programme, 5 for the PAPRICA
programme and another 3 for the Postgraduate courses held during the Congress.

Participants receive detailed information and instructions on how to apply for CME credits in their Congress Bag.

Currency
The local currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF), CHF 1 approximately  EUR 0,83 (please visit www.oanda.com for an updated rate).

EAACI Membership
EAACI gives its members priority status at EAACI Congresses, Focused Meetings and all other EAACI events and activities. Members under 36 years of age receive a discount of EUR 150 on the Registration fee and Junior members are entitled to register for Congress at a lower fee. EAACI offers free Junior membership to individuals ≤ 36 years of age (with online access to the Journals Allergy and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology).

In addition, EAACI also offers a 50% reduction of membership fees to members from countries with a GNP of less than USD 10’000 per capita, with full membership benefits. As an EAACI member you will be kept informed on the latest research and developments through our official journals Allergy, Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, and Clinical Translational Allergy (available in printed or electronic version). These journals contain editorials, review articles, original articles, educational series and more. EAACI General Assembly
The General Assembly of EAACI will take place in Room C between 08:00 - 09:00 on 18 June. Only members are allowed to attend this meeting, and your membership number is printed on your badge. If you do not have your number on the badge and you are a member of EAACI, please contact New Registration/Cashier desk to have a new badge issued.

EAACI National Society Village
Some of EAACI’s National Societies will be promoting their societies and meetings at the National Society Village, located in the Exhibition Hall on Level 1, close to the EAACI booth. Take some time to visit their booths and learn more about other allergy societies.

Electricity
The current used throughout Switzerland is 230 Volts (AC), 50 cycles. Most power sockets are designed for three pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied for many electrical travel products, may be used without problems.

and Immunology (SSAI) meeting in the foyer of Room A, where the annual meeting will be held.

Lost and Found
Please contact the General Information Desk in the registration area in case of personal belongings being lost or found.

Meals
Coffee/tea is included in the registration fee and will be served during the official hours listed in the Programme.  Two large catering areas are located in Hall 1 together with two coffee areas. One coffee area is available in the foyer of Room A, B and C where the EAACI-SSAI Exhibition will be held on Saturday, 16 June 2012. There will also be a coffee area located by the Jura, Mont Blanc, Cervin, Salève and the Q,R,S,T, U rooms. In the west part of the main entrance you will find "Le Restaurant”.

Mobile Phone Policy
Please respect the Congress policy and silence mobile phones in all meeting rooms and in the exhibition and poster areas. Also, please respect that it is not allowed to take any pictures during sessions in the meeting rooms.

Name Badges
Your personal badge is your entrance ticket to all sessions and the exhibition area. Please remember to always wear your badge in the Congress venue. If you have lost your badge, a new one can be purchased, against proof of your original registration, from the New Registration/Cashier desk at a cost of EUR 60.

Parking
There is a large car park located under Palexpo, with easy access to the Congress venue. Note that delegates must pay to use this facility.

Photographing and Recording
Please respect that it is not allowed to take any pictures or to make any other forms of electronic recording during the sessions in the meeting rooms. An official photographer is hired for the
entire event. Photos will be available for downloading on the Congress website

Poster Exhibition
Thematic posters are displayed in the poster exhibition area in Palexpo. They are divided into three poster groups; Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Posters will be displayed during the full days, and
presenting authors will be standing by their posters during lunch hours.

Prayer Room
There is a Prayer Room located in the Villa Sarasin.

Press Office
The Press Office is located in rooms Office 1,2 and 3.The Press Conferences will be held in Office 4.

For other delegates who wish to attend the Nurses’ Programme and the entire Congress, the “EAACI Member/Non-member” fee applies. Pre-registration required. Nurses who have a full registration but who do not want to attend the Welcome Reception will benefit from a reduced registration fee of EUR 25 on the Congress fee. Please note that the deadline for registered delegates to cancel attendance at the Welcome Reception was 16 May.

EAACI-SSAI Symposium Registration
The EAACI-SSAI Basic Science Symposium on 16 June addresses Swiss doctors and scientists and all Congress delegates wishing to attend. The programme includes coffee. A reduced fee for
students and people in training basic science or medicine applies. An official letter identifying them as such must be submitted with the registration. The ”EAACI-SSAI Symposium only fee” does not include any other activities except for the Opening Ceremony. For those delegates who wish to attend the EAACISSAI Symposium and the entire Congress, the “EAACI Member/Non-member fees” and all its services apply. Pre-registration required.

PAPRICA Programme Registration
The PAPRICA (Prime Allergy for Primary Care Physicians) Programme on 16 June addresses primary care physicians and all Congress delegates wishing to attend. The programme includes coffee. The ”PAPRICA Programme only fee” does not include any other activities except for the Opening Ceremony. For those delegates who wish to attend the PAPRICA Programme and the entire Congress, the “EAACI Member/Non-member fees” and all its services apply. Pre-registration required.

Patient Organisations Workshop Registration
The Patient Organisations Workshop on Monday 18 June addresses patients and all Congress delegates wishing to attend. In order to register for the “Patient Organisations Workshop only fee” and the “reduced Congress fee”, a membership certificate from a patient organisation must be submitted with the registration. Neither the “Patient Organisations Workshop registration only fee”, nor the “reduced Congress fee” entitle patients to enter the Exhibition area.

Primary Care Day
The Primary Care Day on 17 June addresses General Practitioners. Included in the Primary Care
Day is the Symposium “Allergy management in a primary care setting”, lunch and a summit after
lunch. In order to register for the Primary Care Day, a General Practitioners ID or an official letter identifying them as such must be submitted with the registration.

Allied Health Workshop and business meeting
Allied Health Workshop and business meeting on 18 June addresses nurses and dieticians. In order to register, a letter from the home institution which validates the appropriate credentials must be submitted with the registration.

Student Registration
PhD students, MD students or fellows in training under the age of 35 are eligible for the student fee. Student status must be certified by a Head of Department and a copy of an ID card or passport must be submitted with the registration. This also applies to students and assistant doctors attending the EAACI-SSAI Symposium only.


Safety
Please be aware of thieves and pick-pockets in the area surrounding the Congress venue. Do not wear your badge outside the Congress venue, and do not give it to anybody even if you are leaving the Congress. If you carry a laptop, always keep an eye on it. In the event of a theft, please contact the General Information Desk who will call Security.

Smoking Policy
In accordance with the policy of the EAACI, this is a non-smoking event.

There is a Speakers Preview Room in secretariat 1 on the ground floor of Palexpo.

Transportation
All visitors staying at a hotel in Geneva can benefit from the Geneva Transportation Card with no additional costs. This personal and non-transferable pass is established upon the visitor’s check-in at the hotel enabling its holder use of the entire public transportation network without restriction (bus,
train and boat), with validity for the entire duration of the stay including the departure day.

      From Airport
The city of Geneva is easily accessible by rail and road networks and the Geneva International Airport (GVA) is located 20 minutes by car from the city centre. Visitors arriving at Geneva International Airport can benefit from a free public transportation ticket, available from the machine in the Arrival Hall, entitling them to 80 minutes free travel throughout the Geneva public transportation network. Tickets can also be purchased from the machines located at bus stops (CHF or EUR change required) and at Swiss railway stations.

The Palexpo Congress Centre is located 500 meters from the Geneva International Airport. For those who wish to walk, it is approximately a 15 minutes walk from airport to the Palexpo. You can also take bus n° 5 from airport to the Palexpo (3 minutes).

From City centre
Efficient ground transportation is available from the Palexpo to City centre and hotels. Bus n° 5 (Hopital – Palexpo– Aeroport), that links the Palexpo with City centre in only 15 minutes, runs frequently. The airport railway station is located a 15 minutes walk from the Palexpo and links to Geneva Central station, Gare Cornavin in only 6 minutes.

Travel Grants
Receivers of Travel Grants may have their travel costs refunded onsite at the Congress from Sunday
17 June at 12:00. Please present original ticket and travel receipts at the Travel Grant Desk in the registration area.
